Ricoh Gerbl will read excerpts from her literary blog ‘Bitch-Up’ and the audience will be able to participate interactively in the reading. This time, it is the listeners who decide which texts will be read aloud. Since December 2020, Gerbl has been publishing eleven microtexts on her blog every month – always on the 13th. In her short texts, the artist and author zooms into everyday life, stretching time and creating snapshots of all kinds. All texts are assigned a term and given a number.
The terms include: Blitzlicht # … Alltag #… Und #… Wünsche #… Lebensentwürfe # … Kultur # … Abgehört # … Visitors are now invited to call out terms like numbers and Gerbl will then recite the texts on request. ‘Bitch’ is a swear word that has always been thrown at women. In her blog, Gerbl appropriates the derogatory word, transforms it and adds the two letters ‘up’ to it. This is intended to evoke the association with ‘stand up for’. In her literary writing, Gerbl is concerned with capturing unstable situations and difficult-to-fathom entanglements. Let it surprise you, make you think, and even make you laugh.
