SCHNEELEDERPERÜCKE
Performance with Käthe Kruse and Edda Kruse Rosset

IMSCHAU – FENSTER – DERWOLF
Performance with Knuth Irche and Gabriele Hänel

In the context of the light installation 15 Buchstaben – 101 Wörter by Penelope Wehrli, the radical contemporary adaptations of Grimm’s fairy tales from Anne Sexton’s legendary book Transformations can be experienced performatively.

Anne Sexton (1928-1974), American writer and representative of the “confessional poets,” published in 1971 the book Transformations, a modern, socio-critical poetic adaptation of the fairy tales of the Brothers Grimm. She dissects them from a feminist perspective and with abysmal humor, exposing unspoken patterns of family violence, abuse, jealousy, and love. With her associative, powerful, and subtle language, she elicits new perspectives for the present from this fund of ancient knowledge.
———
Käthe Kruse conceptually combines a wide variety of media to create her own artistic approach, in which language, text and music form elementary parts. She became internationally known as a member of the West Berlin avant-garde trio Die Tödliche Doris. In this performance, her spoken word vocals are accompanied by Edda Kruse Rosset on leather-wrapped drums.

Gabriele Hänel is an author, performer and theatre maker, and she was one of the founders of the Puppentheater Neubrandenburg and the group Zinnober. As a playwright she writes for theatres in Halle, Dresden, Karlsruhe, Magdeburg, Cologne and for independent theatre groups in Berlin.

Until the turn of the millennium, Knuth Irche was the conceptual head of the interdisciplinary, ensemble-driven theatre in Neubrandenburg. He works as a director, set designer, performer, speaker, reader, musician, sculptor and photographer.
