Spree-Cuts: Götz Lemberg, Galerie Nord | Kunstverein Tiergarten

Opening:

Fri 11 Sept, 6 pm

Welcome: Sabine Weißler, Bezirksstadträtin für Kultur, Umwelt, Natur, Straßen und Grünflachen
Introduction: Veronika Witte, Künstlerische Leiterin

Artists:

On the occasion of the “100 Years of Greater Berlin” anniversary, three municipal galleries are showing panoramic photographs of the Spree by Götz Lemberg. The photographer thematises the Spree as a lifeline, transport route, tourism factor, natural space and leisure paradise, and in doing so he calls the river back into the collective consciousness of Berliners. Galerie Nord | Kunstverein Tiergarten applies the “photographic portrait” of the Spree to the entire length of the ground-level gallery façade; in the Alte Feuerwache project space in Friedrichshain, the Spree is visible from the outside and inside as a walk-in circular panorama; and in the Zitadelle Spandau, an extensive open-air exhibition on Zitadellen-Platz is combined with an exhibition in the rooms of the Centre for Contemporary Art.

The exhibition is made possible by the LOTTO Foundation Berlin. With the kind support of Berliner Wasserbetriebe. An exhibition within the framework of EMOP Berlin – European Month of Photography 2020 (www.emop-berlin.eu).
