How can movement, memory, and sensory experience be archived? How can we preserve phenomena that elude fixation and begin to evaporate at the very moment they appear? The exhibition Archive des Ephemeren (Archives of the Ephemeral) brings together photography, video, installation, and performance exploring both the conditions of preserving and of recalling transient processes. At its core is the inquiry into the material, physical, and medial limits of the archive: What remains once the event has passed, and what forms of storage can do justice to the ephemeral?

The drawings on used sandpaper that Ali Rıza Ceylan has been creating for over 40 years are imbued with experiences of industrial labor, migration, and racist violence. They demonstrate art’s role as an agent of memory, reflection, and resilience.
Through her photographic and installation work Poznań Force, Hadas Tapouchi explores how former sites of Nazi forced labor continue to resonate in urban and rural spaces to this day. Architecture and landscape emerge as vessels of history and memory.
For Anna Berndtson’s long-term performance Ad hoc Re-Performance Berlin, Berlin-based artists are invited via an open call to propose their own previously staged performances for spontaneous re-enactment by the artist. By re-performing the selected works, the project examines the body and movement as living archives, as well as repetition as a discursive and contemporary practice.
As part of her artistic research, Effrosyni Kontogeorgou explores the perspirations of people and spaces. At the intersections between material and immaterial traces of spatial-bodily experience, her experimental setups generate unpredictable images with individual, idiosyncratic aesthetics.

Together, these artistic approaches open up new perspectives on archives that draw on experience, memory, and perception. They explore bodies, places, and various materials as carriers of history, stories, and knowledge, and present archives as open processes of translation.

On event days (except for the opening), visitors are invited between 3 and 5 pm to present an object from their own collection as a loan for the temporary collection.
