Art festival in Moabit and the Hansaviertel with over 200 artists in more than 80 locations.

Opening: Friday 1 Jun, 6 pm, Galerie Nord | Kunstverein Tiergarten

This year, the art festival Ortstermin has the forward-looking, ambitious, but also ambivalent motto “Hoch hinaus!” (“Up high!”). Many artists have taken up this motto in different ways and used it as an opportunity to develop new and unexpected works.
A meteorite on Union Square, for example, announces what mankind has not yet been able to grasp. Other artistic works draw on myths and fairy tales: the flying Robert from “Struwwelpeter” or the Icarus myth. Still others address the downsides of euphoria and advancement with a critical and pointed reference to current events or ask, with a wink, about the limits of one’s own possibilities.
At this year’s local event, the ascent can be experienced physically in some places. Two church towers will be artistically performed on and can be climbed, and other exhibition venues at similarly high altitudes will offer views over Berlin.
The Galerie Nord is also set to go up high. The gallery rooms are still on the ground floor of the Brüder-Grimm-Haus. In the future, however, it is planned to create new rooms at a lofty height on the roof of the building, which will offer optimal conditions for exhibitions and events. Our motto “Hoch hinaus!” developed from this future perspective, which Galerie Nord | Kunstverein Tiergarten is using as an opportunity to present its new video screening programme “in between” in the gallery windows for the first time. From a large number of applications, a jury of 7 experts has selected 14 video works for this year’s motto, which will make the festival shine deep into the night.

You can download the programme for this year’s Ortstermin festival here.

The Kunstverein Tiergarten would like to thank all participants and supporters for their commitment and ideas, which carry the festival higher and higher each year. We wish the artists and visitors of Ortstermin 18 “Hoch hinaus!” a festival full of inspiring art experiences and surprising encounters.
