in a spatial installation by Marten Schech
Celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Kunstverein Tiergarten, RE:VISION dares the impossible — a project bringing together the names of all 2,193 artists and institutions who have actively engaged in exhibitions and events at Galerie Nord over the previous two decades.
In a room-book-installation conceived for this occasion, all artists named in the RE:VISION publication have been invited to loan an original artistic work in exchange for a copy of the exhibition catalog, an open book functioning not only as an archive and placeholder, but also as a catalyst for visitors to help curate through active participation. In this way, the interplay of artistic transaction and procedural co-creation will unfold as a variable mathematical process, undermining traditional curatorial hierarchies and deconstructing conventional exhibition practices.
In this unpredictable choreography of appearing and disappearing names, stories, and art, past and present shall no longer remain separate: Twenty years condensed into an interwoven time within the book-space. Gradually, a completely new exhibition will take shape: RE:VISION which will culminate in this glittering anniversary festival.
Performances, concerts, guided tours and a discussion on the relevance of art associations are planned for the duration of the exhibition.
Curated by Julia Heunemann, Ulrike Riebel, and Veronika Witte.
