Film screening with the filmmakers Cinema Copains

In Fictions and Futures #1, Gloria, the voice of the eponymous brokerage firm, introduces us to the language and logic of the financial world. From her mouth and that of her hand-picked guests, we learn about the narratives that fuel the markets, why the shortage of commodities is a reason to rejoice, and how a foretold catastrophe becomes a lever for asserting interests.

The exhibition <Doku.Argu.Experi.Pig.> presents further works by the artist duo. In the photo series We Reimagine The Possible (2019), competence staging by consulting firms meets places abandoned by capital, Nobel laureates bask in high-frequency data networks, stock exchange traders disappear in the fog of a physics experiment on the theory of price formation. The photographs are framed by a radio play Und wenn das Eigentum heilig ist … (2021) about the right to property and the article of the Constitution that provokes gasps and shouts of Carracas from liberal fanatics.

Arne Hector and Minze Tummescheit have been working together under the name Cinéma Copains since 2000. Their experimental documentary works, which include lectures, performances, installations and films, reflect on social and economic issues. Based on interdisciplinary artistic research, their works transcend classical genre boundaries and are represented in both film festivals and art exhibitions.
