Long-term performance by Anna Berndtson

For Anna Berndtson’s long-term performance Ad hoc Re-Performance Berlin, Berlin-based artists are invited via an open call to propose their own previously staged performances for spontaneous re-enactment by the artist. By re-performing the selected works, the project examines the body and movement as living archives, as well as repetition as a discursive and contemporary practice.

Anna Berndtson (born 1972 in Malmö, Sweden) has lived, worked, and studied in England and Germany, among other places. She graduated from Dartington College of Arts in the United Kingdom in 1999 and joined Marina Abramović’s performance class at the HBK Braunschweig in 2001, where she earned her diploma in fine arts in 2005. She teaches and leads workshops on performance art.
Anna Berndtson also collaborates with numerous other artists. Since 2003, she has been working with German artist Irina Runge as part of the performance duo TBL (TallBlondLadies). Corinna Siebert and Kathrin Jobczyk joined TBL, and in 2019 they founded the new multimedia group plan42 together.
Anna Berndtson lives and works in Malmö and Berlin.
