Art festival in Moabit and the Hansaviertel with exhibitions, open studios and events from 28 to 30 August 2020.
We are inundated daily with hate images, fake news, defamation of dissidents and so-called catastrophe reports. As a result of digital simultaneity and informational confusion, fear, insecurity and recklessness arise in our dealings, but at the same time resentment and resistance grow, critical awareness and new forms of solidarity emerge.
2020 we call for a courageous confrontation with bans, for enduring and negotiating ambivalences and for the freedom of artistic expression that Ortstermin has always stood for with its democratic approach.
What artistic signs do you set against media effects, scaremongering and trivialisation, but also against nationalist incitement and exclusion, which are booming in times of “general insecurity”? Art does not need to bow to evaluation criteria such as “appropriate” or “unreasonable”; rather, it may and should defy aesthetic, moralising and content-related demarcations.
